How long do points stay on your license?
Penalty points must stay on your driving license for a different period, depending on the type of conviction. Generally speaking. the more serious the offense, the longer the points will stay on your license. Points given for drink or drug driving will stay for 11 years on your license. Dangerous driving and most offenses resulting in disqualification from driving will stay for 4 years from the date of conviction. For all other cases of offense, for example most speeding convictions (if they did not result in disqualification), penalty points will stay for 4 years from the date of offense.
Moreover, if during a period of 3 years, you get 12 penalty points or more (or 6 points for new drivers), you will be automatically disqualified from driving.
